Flag

Today we wear our nations colors – the Red, the White, the Blue – in celebration of Veterans Day – a day to honor the brave men and women willing and able to stand on the front lines of freedom as members of the United States military.  We wear our nation’s colors to let our Veterans know that we will NEVER forget what they have given, and continue to give, to each of us as American citizens through their military service.

Today we wear our nation’s colors:  The RED for the hardiness and valour displayed by every soldier, sailor and airman past and present so that we may have our freedoms.  The WHITE for the purity and innocence of their hearts and souls to risk and sacrifice all they have and are for our Constitution.  The BLUE for the vigilance, perseverance and justice of their minds and spirits as they battle those that threaten to harm the self-evident truths and unalienable rights upon which our country was founded – Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

I have spent countless hours in awe of the military accomplishments of dear family members, friends and heroes and I cannot even begin to express my gratitude…a simple “thank you” seems like never enough.  All the care packages in the world seem so insignificant compared to what our Veterans offer each of us and our children in return, but we do what we can to keep the home fires burning and will continue to advocate for programs that provide our Veterans with what they need and deserve – you are forever in our hearts and always in our prayers.  Abraham Lincoln said, “Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country’s cause.  Honor, also to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause.”

So thank you to all our Veterans for all that you have given and continue to give on this glorious fall day of 2015.  Be proud of all you have inspired.  Be proud to be Red, White and Blue.

May God bless and keep you always in the palm of his hand.
